This year there are nine 2021 DermLink grant recipients from across the world, including Chile, Indonesia, Pakistan, and Rwanda. We are excited to share the details of our 2021 ILDS DermLink grant recipients.
2021 ILDS DermLink Grant Recipients Announced
Every year the ILDS awards DermLink grants to projects submitted by our Members. This year there are nine 2021 DermLink grant recipients from across the world, including Chile, Indonesia, Pakistan, and Rwanda.
We are excited to share the details of our 2021 ILDS DermLink grant recipients:
Patch Testing in Northern Patagonia, Chile | Chilean Society of Dermatology and Venereology
The Chilean Society of Dermatology and Venereology (SCDV) will purchase and train nurses to use patch testing equipment. Once diagnosed, patients will also receive self-management resources. Through this, they hope to provide patch testing for indigenous communities, who have limited access to dermatological care in Osorno, Patagonia, Chile.
Strengthening Patient Information Management for the Prevention of Skin Cancer Among People with Albinism In Malawi | Irish Association of Dermatologists
In partnership with Standing Voice, the Irish Association of Dermatologists seeks to develop the capacity of Skin Cancer Prevention Programme (SCPP) partners to manage patient clinical data, monitor individual patients’ care pathways and evaluate and improve health outcomes. In addition to this, they aim to strengthen the referrals system by enhancing the flow of patient information.
Teledermatological Tracking and Prevention of Cashew Nut Dermatitis | Indian Association of Dermatologists, Venereologists and Leprologists
The Indian Association of Dermatologists, Venereologists and Leprologists (IADVL) intends to provide dermatological care and allergic contact dermatitis (ACD) self-management training to Cashew Nut Factory Workers where ACD is endemic. In doing so, they hope to reduce the number of people affected by this condition and its impact.Integrating teledermatology into the National Indonesian Telemedicine Platform| Indonesian Society of Dermatology and Venereology
By utilising teledermatology, the Indonesian Society of Dermatology and
Venereology (ISDV) seeks to improve skin and sexual health services in rural areas of Indonesia. ISDV also aims to train primary health care physicians on diagnosing both simple and complex conditions, treating common dermatological and venereal diseases, and referring complicated cases for further treatment.
Making Skin Health A Priority for All | Nigerian Association of Dermatologists
The Nigerian Association of Dermatologists (NAD) seeks to improve the dermatological knowledge of General Practitioners as they are the first point of contact for most people for healthcare queries. In addition to this, they will also provide large-scale outreach clinics across three different states in Nigeria.
Medical and Awareness Raising Mission to Prisons | Pakistan Association of Dermatologists
The Pakistan Association of Dermatologists (PAD) will treat inmates for skin and sexual health diseases, including follow up care. They will also undertake educational workshops to raise awareness about sexually transmitted infections and diseases. Through this, they hope to reduce the rates of skin and sexual disorders among prisoners.
Teach, Educate and Aid through Medical Missions | Philippine Academy of Dermatologic Surgery Foundation, Inc
The Philippine Academy of Dermatologic Surgery Foundation, Inc. (PADSFI) will undertake medical missions in rural areas. Through this, they will provide dermatological care and treatment to underserved indigenous communities.
Improving the quality of life of Persons with Albinism in Rwanda| Spanish Academy of Dermatology and Venereology
In partnership with Beyond Suncare, the Spanish Academy of Dermatology and Venereology (AEDV) aims to improve the quality of life of persons with Albinism in Rwanda from a social-health perspective by increasing access to tailored skin cancer preventive services, including bespoke education, dermatological examinations, and customised sunscreens.
Public Awareness and Education on Skin Lightening Products and Safe Skin Care | Sri Lanka College of Dermatologists
Through a national multimedia campaign, the Sri Lanka College of Dermatologists (SLCD) seeks to raise awareness about the misuse of topical steroids and the dangers of skin whitening. In doing so, they hope to reduce the rates of topical steroid misuse and skin whitening in Sri Lanka.
This year, we received many high-quality applications. Unfortunately, we cannot fund every application. Nonetheless, we appreciate the time taken by all applicants to tell us about their projects.
